Want To Know The #1 Thing Needed To Build A Business Online?

I’m sure the little voice inside your head right now is screaming YES! Good… That means you have a strong desire to grow, and that’s a biggie!

So I’m always getting thrown the question… “What does it take to build an online business?”. It’s probably the most frequently asked question I get, so I decided to shoot you a video with my answer.

I was down in sunny Florida for the past week so I shot this video for you from the beach right before I was headed back home. My buddy was driving down to Florida for his company and asked me if I wanted to take a road trip… the little voice inside my head screamed YES!

The Beautiful Life of Being An Entrepreneur… Gotta LOVE it!

The coolest thing about this whole thing was I didn’t have to ask anyone if I could go. The drive was AMAZING… the east coast has some gorgeous real estate. Let me also tell you that SO MANY great ideas come when on a road trip:)

Well I don’t want to hold my answer to this question back anymore… Watch the video now:

Eric…so dang true. As I was watching and listening to your video I hopped over to check my email and low and behold I had like 3 emails all from people I don\’t have a relationship with that were telling me about Blastoff. Isn\’t that so dang wonderful!

Seriously, though you\’re right on. Building relationships is the key to life and when you understand that, it makes things so much simpler.

Have a great one bro.

Great Post Eric!

One of the things I do to build relationships on line is to, comment regularly on other people’s posts – especially on their birthdays.

I also like finding people from my past, because you already have some kind of connection with them and it’s a lot of fun to catch up the years you might of missed.

Thanks so much for sharing, It’s nice being able to learn from you.

Eric,

Great post about relationships first. I love the point you made about how we don’t wear a sign on our chest with what company we’re in. It is amazing how we receive so much spam when we first connect with people online. Since when did social media turn into the classified section.

Do you pass out your business card as soon as you enter an office or party for the first time… NO. When we meet people offline for the first time we don’t usually learn what they do until we ask. Being online should not be any different.

I appreciate your leading by example.

So many people just don\\\’t get this Eric. You are able to hit it right on the head.

The amount of spam on social media is hitting ridiculous heights.

I always say it\\\’s the equivalent to asking a girl to jump in bed with you before you have even met her.

Can it happen? Sure. Is it likely? Um, no!

Is it the best way to meet people and get them to like and trust you? Um, nope!

People like people. They don\\\’t like walking logos.

Thanks for sharing Eric!

You know, people seem to think that the Internet removes the need for building relationships. Even traditional businesses are built, to a large extent, on relationships. You build relationships with your suppliers, with your clients, with your shippers, etc. When you build an online business, you need to build relationships, too!

Thanks for sharing the video Eric. People who believe deeply in themselves feel no need to spam. This is since they attract money and the right people without trying that hard. It all springs from having the proper mindset.

Alex Lim October 27, 2009 at 11:19 PM

Eric,

Totally agree with your points. I’m not a kind of person who will sign up or go along with people (or machines) that I don’t know or trust with. I don’t even bother to open their emails, too busy to that. I would rather read some newsletter from my favorite blogs.

Trust is not gain in an instant and that applies both in offline and online. Indeed, the best way to get it is to establish rapport first. We are dealing with money and time, and these things are hard to risk for.

each other’s lives.

And when that happens… it’s MAGIC!

Reply

It really IS all about relationships. For some reason people think that ‘social media’ is different from traditional belly to belly networking. It is pretty ridiculous, as you say, especially because we’ve been building relationships all our lives. Thanks for sharing and thanks for being such an example for all the on-line marketers out there. Everyone building a business on-line needs to watch this video. I’m excited to share it. :)
