Eric, I have a quick question. Do I have to go to my hostgator account first for the MP3 Player?? I was unsure about that. Anyway, Thanks for the incredible value. I was literally just asking Jodie Thompson this the other day. Thanks again!

Therese,

You can install the Audio Player plugin
right from your back office of WordPress.

The only thing you have to do in your hosting
account is upload the song file. Give me a shout
if you need more help on this.

Looking forward to seeing you when you are in
New York this month… speak soon!

I will definitely give this plugin a try.
It will allow me to listen to some
music while I am creating blog posts
as well.

I am sure some of my readers will
enjoy the music that I listen too

Thanks for sharing Eric. A quick question. Will this also work if I want to upload Audio Interviews on my blog?

Reply

Nilofer December 6, 2009 at 7:52 PM

Hi Eric, I followed your instructions but I cant see the audio player in my post. I think I missed out on the last bit where you talk about putting the code in your post. Can you go into this a little more. Is the code [audio:name.mp3]. Is there anything else you need to put in the blog post? Thanks for the help.

Nilofer,

You can use any kind of audio… music,
interview, etc…

Once you have the audio plugin installed
and the mp3 file on your server… then all
you need to do is put the [audio:name.mp3]
code where you want the player to appear.

Let me know if you need more help:)

Hi Eric, Tried it. Doesn’t work :) Any troubleshooting tips? Nilofer

Nilofer,

Hmmm… It worked for me the 1st time:)

Did you click the ‘verify’ button on your back
office of WordPress to make sure your uploading
the music file to the correct folder?

Oren Pardes December 8, 2009 at 3:36 AM

Hurray! I finally got music to play!

You can hear the first song I picked at:
http://orenpardes.com/change-anyone

Like Nilofer, I couldn’t get the audio player plugin I added from my blog’s dashboard to work at first. I’m not sure what the problem was. The options page version didn’t match the plugin version and would not verify the location of my audio file. What I ended up doing was deleting the original Audio Player 1.23 and downloading Audio Player 2.0b6 as a zip file to my computer and uploading it to my plugins folder through my cpanel (where I extracted all the files) and everything suddenly worked for me (in the blog).

I uploaded my mp3 to an “audio” folder I created one level up from my plugins – placing it (where my wp-admin and wp-content files are) in my public_html folder.

Hopefully that’ll help anyone else with problems if Eric’s instructions for some reason won’t work for them.

Be the Change
and be crazy enough to keep trying until you succeed.

Great idea. I thought you were talking metaphorically at first. But no you are talking about actually adding music to your blogs. I love plugging in my iphone to the internet radio as I blog. You are adding the best of both worlds.
