Have You DEFINED Your Personal Brand?

by Eric Goldstein

Today’s video is SUPER DUPER IMPORTANT!

If you are building a personal brand online today, then you have to be VERY CLEAR on what your brand is.  What do I mean by this?  You need to know who your audience is.  You need to know what you are offering your audience.

Too many people are running around making noise on social media… and that’s it!  I believe it’s because they don’t know what they are trying to accomplish.  They don’t know what their brand’s core message is.  Without this comes confusion and no money.

I add more to this topic in this video, watch it now:

0 Have You DEFINED Your Personal Brand?

So… are you clear on your brand’s message?  Have you defined your personal brand?  Leave a comment below sharing your answers.  I’d love to hear from you… Also, pass this post along by sharing it on Facebook and Twitter icon smile Have You DEFINED Your Personal Brand?

Thanks for hangin’ with me here today… clarity is power!

Hey Eric,
I have to say that blue shirt looks great on you… and how did you get the blue shiny frame to match around your video?!
Great message and so true! It’s taken me a little while to get clear on my ‘niche’ and I’m still refining it… looking forward to working with you more to help with that!
Have an Awesome weekend!

Hey Janice,

Thanks, the blue shirt is one of
my favorites:)

That frame is from the ‘Viper Quicktags
Video’ plugin… it’s in the settings.

Keep refining your niche, the more
clear and laser focused it is, the more
powerful you will be.

Hey Eric, another great post!

This really comes down to focus. When you talk to the Internet gurus they all emphasize the same thing: focus.

“Know your niche and your customer.” –> Focus
“Pick a marketing technique and master it.” –> Focus

Thos are the two big examples but I am sure there are more. We need to learn to focus and not be all over the place.

As an audio engineer, which I have been doing voluntarily for organizations for almost 10 years, if you focus on a single musician, no matter how quiet they are, you can hear them through all the other noise. When you don’t focus however, they can get lost in the “noise.”

Business is the same way. Focus, or be lost in the noise.

Hey Michael,

Focus is key, without it we
would go nowhere. Knowing
who your customer is key, most
people never define this.

Thanks for sharing your perspective:)

Hey Eric,

Great video man. There are a lot of people that make noise online. But that’s a good thing in my opinion. That’s why it’s not crowded at the top.

I believe the vast majority of people just don’t take action -or- take information like you’re giving and run with it for a few weeks then quit.

It’s the same reason why offline there are lots of people making noise, but very few actually applying success techniques they learn and integrate it into their daily habits.

I think A LOT of people want to have a VERY successful brand, but very few are willing to pay the price to get there.

Great post as always Eric.

Hey Ryan,

It is easy to stand out when there
are just a lot of noise makers. I think
most of those noise makers are people
who have been told that they need to
position themselves as a Social Media
Guru to be successful.

I feel they’ve been led down the wrong
path, and are not building a brand around
their passion… and they haven’t been shown
how to make money from their Social Media.

This is all good… as it’s given birth to major
desires within me, and I’m putting some stuff
into place to bring about a change with all this.

Thanks for sharing Ryan!

Great job Eric. I love the analogy of driving your car around in circles. A lot of people spin their wheels when marketing themselves online, and the reason is often that they don’t have a clear understanding of WHO they are trying to attract, WHAT solution they provide, and WHY people should do business with them.

My passion is also helping solo entrepreneurs find and attract their ideal niche. Your niche is at the heart of your personal brand, and the most important foundation for your business success.

Thanks for your valuable insights and all that you do.
warm wishes,

Hey Cindy,

A lot of people are just spinning their
wheels, driving around wasting gas….

It’s mostly because people haven’t given
them a clear plan on what to do… and
they’ve got just bits an pieces.

The first step in all of this is to define
your brand… and figure out who is your
target audience.

Thanks for chiming in!

Hey Eric,

Great video here my man! It is so important to get absolutely clarity about exactly what it is you are trying to portray to your prospects and what brand you are trying to build around your name. I think what is really critical is that you shouldn’t have to tell people what you are instead, they should be able to tell based off the content you provide and the leadership that you demonstrate.

Great stuff here my friend keep it up!

Yes, you’re content should be speaking
directly to your target audience. It should
be of no confusion what your brand and
message are about.

My pleasure on the video bro!

Hi Eric. Great video!

This was one of the hardest things for me to get clear on when I was getting started online. I think I’m still in the process of focusing in on my exact brand and I so appreciate your great training.

Please keep on posting more about this topic…I’m anxious to learn more!

Hey Heather,

I see a lot of people toss up a blog
and marketing without being clear on
this.

It’s like a store opening and running
ads, but not sure what they are going
to offer on the shelves to their customers
when they get there.

I’ve got lots more info on this topic coming

Hey Eric,

I have been doing some soul searching lately to find that I do have a passion for search engine optimization… considering that I am a website designer, I feel that I need to be an expert in this field.

Because I have 2 passions, and it doesn’t seem feasible to bring 1 single blog with SEO, plus Health and Relationships (which I have quite a bit of knowledge in from college, research, and reading books), I will be dividing my efforts to bring 2 blogs, one for SEO, and the other for Health and Relationships.

Thank you again for a great video… your message always gives me something to think about.

Hey John,

Yea, it’s good to keep those separate.
Just make sure that you have time for
both blogs.

I always feel it’s better to build one brand/blog
and get it profiting before building another.
This is just my opinion:)

Eric,

Wow, I was just thinking of something similar the other day. Sometimes there is so much noise out there on the social media sites, like you said, we really need to watch what we are doing and the message we really want to bring.

I do think people need to be careful not to say and do things just to “look good” and be popular.

I really like your perspective and analogies of how we should have a clearly defined purpose. I have never really looked at it like you describe, so again, thank you!!!

Blessings,

Karen,

There are a lot of people just doing
things to ‘look good’ just like you said.

This does not do this person any good.
If it’s not authentic, it’s not going to get
the pull that this person is looking for.

Looking forward to connecting more!

Thank you for sharing this post. Before social media came about, I was a business coach for people starting their own business (not internet based), and the biggest mistake people made was thinking that getting business cards and handing them out to as many people as possible was all the marketing they needed to do.

They forgot the most important point and that was understanding who their market was. The internet and social media has just highlighted this issue more intensely. A great post. Thanks

Hey Brenda,

It really is so important to know
who you are talking to…

It’s just like having a conversation
with someone. You must know who
they are and what they want…

And then you can give it to them:)
