I wanted to shoot this video today to share with you someone who has touched my life and truly made a huge difference. It was my grandmother… who just passed away a few days ago. Sometimes you don’t realize the difference people are making until they are no longer in your life.

It’s that time again… another book review for Hay House Publications.  It’s funny the way things work… I wanted to read more, and now Hay House sends me new books that they’re getting ready to release to read and do a blog post review for them.  Pretty cool!

The book that I’m reviewing today is Louise Hay’s new book Experience Your Good Now!: Learning To Use Affirmations.

I really enJOYed reading this book.  I’ve been becoming aware of the way that I talk to myself more and more lately, and this book was right in alignment with this topic.

We are all speaking to ourselves on a daily basis, more than we actually know we are.  You may be reading this right now and saying “I don’t talk to myself’”… it’s that voice right there that I’m referring to.  You’re not crazy for talking to yourself… you’re human.

We are constantly thinking… which basically is talking to ourselves.  The challenge with this is that most of us have been programmed to think more towards the negative end of the spectrum.  It’s okay if you do… you had a lot of years of listening to your parents, teachers, grandparents, etc.  Most of the stuff that came out of their mouths probably wasn’t words of empowerment.

Do any of these sound familiar?

“Money doesn’t grow on trees” , “Don’t get your hopes up”, “You have to save for a rainy day”, “We can’t afford it”, “You really should watch what you’re eating”

These are just a few of the things that you may have heard.  Your parents and the others that told you these things didn’t know any better.  I believe that people always do the best they can with the resources they have.

They were programmed as well to think and talk this way, so they were just doing what they knew.  Being subjected to this year after year, caused some of these statements to become your daily habitual thoughts.

Most of them you’re thinking and not even realizing that you are.  They’ve become so ‘normal’ that you’ve almost become numb to them… you’ve acclimated to them.

The boiling frog story…

If a frog is placed in boiling water, it will jump out, but if it is placed in cold water that is slowly heated, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death.  It’s sort of what’s happened to a lot of people over time.

The negative statements were made gradually over time, so they just got use to them… not realizing they were being COOKED!

Now can you see how this can changed your pattern of thinking over time?  The disempowering statements turned into your thoughts, and then the habitual thinking of those thoughts created your beliefs. 

A belief is just a thought you keep thinking… and when you think it long enough, it becomes one of your truths… better known as a ‘belief’.

Not to worry, I have good news!

Just like your parents, teachers and all of the others programmed you… you are able to re-program yourself back to thinking more on the positive side of the scale.  How do you do this?  With positive self talk… otherwise known as Affirmations.

In Louise Hay’s new book Experience Your Good Now!: Learning To Use Affirmations, she takes you by the hand and gives you a step-by-step program to creating powerful affirmations for yourself.

Louise’s style of writing is engaging and entertaining.  It’s one of those books that you’ll pick up to start reading, and next thing you know 2 hours has passed.  Louise shares it all in this book.  She gives simple processes to re-program your thinkin’ so it’s not stinkin’ anymore

One of the many POWERFUL things that I took away from this book is doing affirmations in front of a mirror.  There’s something that happens when you’re looking yourself square in the eyes and speaking your words out loud.  There’s this connection that happens… very hard to put into words… but if you’ve done them this way for a while, you know what I’m talking about.

One thing that I’m becoming more and more conscious of is the way that I talk to myself.  The more aware of this you can be, the easier it is to get to where you want to go.

The mind is a slippery little sucker.  It will say all sorts of things to STOP you from getting what you want.  Most people get frustrated over this, but the mind is only doing what it is designed to do.  It’s job is to protect you…

So the mind looks at it this way…

If you don’t grow, you’re safe.  Meaning, if you stand still and don’t move anywhere, you are less likely to get hurt.  So it’s job is to stop you from growing!

So if your mind is doing that, then be happy!  Now why would I say such a thing… because it means that your mind is working correctly… no need to go see a doctor

Now there are 3 words that the mind says OVER AND OVER that gets most people every single time… and it stops them dead in their tracks!  When you discover this and pay attention to when your mind says this to you, you will know the exact things that you need to do to grow.

WOW!  I just got an email forwarded to me from a really good friend, Alicia Diaz.  It’s an email that I sent her a year ago almost to the day.  She came across it and wanted me to see the vision that I had and how trusting your guidance pays off.  It was so GOOD to read something that I wrote when I was starting my journey into the blogosphere.

I had absolutely NO CLUE about blogging or the whole social media game… I just knew that I had a strong feeling about something and I was going to follow it.  You know the feeling, right?  The feeling of being drawn to something, almost as if you are being pulled.

I’ve come to learn that this is the Universe showing me which route to take to get to where I want to go.  We all have wants and desires… and the Universe ALWAYS knows the best and fastest route.

We all have this internal guidance…

It’s called your emotional guidance system.  It’s just that most of us have not listened to it for so long, that we don’t even ‘hear’ or ‘see’ the signs.  The good news is that it never shuts off, no matter how long you ignore it for!

After years of listening to other people (parents, teachers, coaches, relatives, bosses, etc.) telling you what to do, you stopped trusting and listening to yourself.  The signs are so subtle sometimes, but the more you listen and trust… the stronger the feelings get and the more noticeable they are.

I’ve always been someone not to listen to others.  I would get yelled at by my mother all the time for this.  I didn’t know it then, but I was listening to my emotional guidance system.  My teachers, coaches and bosses always would say ‘Eric always does what Eric wants to do’… haha!

So here is the email Alicia sent me…

It was so great reading this email and seeing what has unfolded in my life.  I could have NEVER predicted, back then, all of the amazing things that have come into my since building my personal brand with my blog.

I was just following a feeling… an emotion that felt good

The message I really want you to get today from this blog post is to ALWAYS follow what feels good to you.  I promise you that if you start trusting your guidance more, you will get everything you want!  There will be a bunch of people out there that don’t agree with you, but it’s your internal emotional guidance system… not theirs. 

It’s like you driving in your car and calling your buddy who is in their car, and asking them what their navigation system is telling them to do so you can get to where you want to go.  It would make NO SENSE… but this is what people are doing everyday by listening to others and not trusting in their own guidance.

I hope this email will help you get back to trusting your guidance and believing in yourself more.  I was going to keep this email to myself but I’m all about EMPOWERING others, and I knew if I shared it… it would touch someone’s life and make a difference.

Something that has been coming up a lot lately while in conversation with prospective personal branding consulting clients when it comes to building a personal brand is a sense of frustration because they don’t know where to begin or what to do.

Positive self talk… some will say it sounds a little crazy.  What they don’t realize is they are already talking to themselves, and most of the time it’s leaning towards the negative side of things. 

Most of us have been programmed to look at what’s wrong or what’s missing.  Don’t believe me… have you heard some of these sayings before?

Life wasn't meant to be easy
Don’t get your hopes up
It’s easier said then done
All Good things must come to an end

Remember these… most of our parents, teachers and other people who had influence over us growing up used to throw them around all the time.  If you hear something long enough, especially at a young age, you start to believe it… and then it becomes one of your truths/beliefs.

Most people are unaware of the POWER of our vocabulary.  All of your words carry a vibration, and that vibration becomes your point of attraction.  Basically, whatever you believe is what you will get.

Now you might be saying to yourself right now ‘I don’t believe those things’.  You might not want to believe them, but if they’ve been told to you over and over, they might be a deep rooted limiting beliefs.  A belief is just a thought that you keep thinking over and over.

When it gets to that point, you usually aren’t even aware that you’re thinking that thought.  It’s become so normal that you’ve acclimated to it. 

So how do you know if you talking to yourself that way?

Now you don’t want to drive yourself crazy with this.  As a human being you have an average of 60,000 thoughts per day, so you don’t want to go monitoring them all.  A litmus test to see if you are focusing more on the negative side of things is to pay attention to what you are saying.

The thoughts that are most dominant will show up in your external talk.  Just be aware of the things you are saying.  If your talk is more towards ‘what’s missing’ or ‘what’s wrong’, then you know you have some of these disempowering beliefs.

Here are a few examples:

Why do I always do that?
It’s too good to be true… it probably won’t happen 
I’m always in a rush, there is never enough time

Are any of these or similar statements familiar?  It’s okay if they are.  The first step in making a shift is awareness.  Being honest with where you are is the only way to get to where you want to go.

So how do you change your thought patterns?

Affirmations are the key to doing this.  Affirmations are just positive empowering statements that you make to reprogram you thinking.

Most people laugh at thought of doing them, but you have two choices… to keep doing what you’ve been doing and getting the results you been getting, or try something new. 

If you keep doing what you’ve been doing, you will keep getting what you’ve been getting.  No matter how many times you try, if you keep trying to bake something with the wrong ingredients you’re never going to get the end result you want.

5 Affirmations to change your life

1. I have abundance in all areas of my life
2. I trust in the Universe to deliver me exactly what I need in each moment
3. I have meaningful and loving relationships
4. I am instrument of vibrant health
5. Money flows into my life easily and frequently

These are just some examples for you.  If they resonate with you, then use them.  If not, create affirmations that you will better fit you.  One thing you have to remember, they are going to feel weird when you first start doing them.

You might not believe them in the beginning,  but the idea is to say them each day until they feel more and more real.  Once they do, you will start to see physical results showing up in your life to match the affirmations.  Pretty cool, huh?

Starting out…

Spend 5-10 minutes each day repeating your affirmations.  It’s best to do them looking in the mirror.  Now that might sound funny, but I promise you that they are much more POWERFUL when done this way.

Also, they are best done in the morning.  Why?  You are in your least resistant state in the morning because you just came off a night of rest.  Also, you want to set the point of attraction for your day on the right foot.

My challenge to you…

I’m here to EMPOWER you… so I have a challenge for you.  Spend 5-10 minutes each day for the next 30 days saying your affirmations.  This includes the weekends too:)

I promise you that if you stick with this, you will see a major difference in the people, places and experiences that show up in your life.  You will be on the path to creating abundance in your life!

So this morning my slippery little Ego tried keeping me in bed with stupid reasons like ‘You were up late, you should rest more’. Now did that sound like a good idea at 5:25AM? You bet!

So after I told my Ego to go and take a hike, I was off to meditate and then to the gym. I was listening to a great audio of Wayne Dyer’s book Inspiration: Your Ultimate Calling in the car on the way home from the gym… and the segment I was listening to was all about the Ego.

Have you had a defining moment in your life? A moment that changed the course of your life. Yes you have, we all have! Sometimes we are so quick to keep looking into the future, that we forget to look back.

For some, the moment is something they will NEVER forget because it creating such a big impact. For others, the moment might have seemed very small and minuscule, but that moment as life went on was the catalyst for BIG changes.

A defining moment in my life happened to be a day that will go down in Eric Goldstein history as one of the most special days of my life… juicy juicy juicy! I haven’t shared this story with many, so here goes sharing it with the world:)

If you haven’t Wayne Dyer’s book The Shift: Taking Your Life From Ambition To Meaning yet… then you must put it at the top of your list of books to read. I recently read this book and it was one of my favorite reads.

I’ve been asked by Hay House Publishers to do product and book reviews before they release them on the market. This was the first of many that I will be reviewing for them.

This is pretty exciting being Hay House is one of the fastest-growing self-help publishers in the world, selling books, audios, and videos to 33 countries around the world. So keep an eye out for some more stuff coming from them.

So back to The Shift…

This book really resonated with me being I’ve been doing a lot of reading and listening on the topic of Law of Attraction. Wayne Dyer lays it out perfectly in this book. He shares in depth about how we get what we focus on.

If you’re always looking at what is wrong in your life… you are going to get more of ‘what’s wrong showing up’. We live in an attraction based Universe. There is no such thing as ‘no’. What do I mean by that?

When you say ‘yes’ to something you pull it towards you. When you say ‘no’ to something you pull it towards you. It’s a tricky thing, but most people think that by saying they don’t want something and focusing on it, talking about it, telling their friends about it (I think you get my point:)… that it will go out of their life.

The exact opposite happens! This is some of what Wayne Dyer talks about in The Shift. He writes in a way that makes it very simple and easy for you to understand this principle.

He continues to talk about the POWER of the present moment. You hear people talk about the power of now and the present moment a lot… but most people don’t realize that most of the time they are NOT in the present moment.

The slick little Ego…

The Ego is what takes us out of the present moment, because of it’s constant demands for MORE. Most people find themselves in states of thought all day about wanting more money, more stuff, more relationships… more, more, more!

This is the ego… and it’s snapping you right out of the present moment. In The Shift: Taking Your Life From Ambition To Meaning, it’s beautifully explained why this happens and how to make a SHIFT in the direction your life is taking.

Dr. Dyer shows us how to live a life of meaning and purpose. If you’ve been looking to regain your power and re-align yourself with your Source… then this book is the read for you. One thing you can expect from this book is VALUE… just like all of Wayne Dyer’s other books and products.

So in closing… I give this book at Thumbs Up!

Manifesting What You Want is much EASIER then you think!

Law of Attraction has been the talk of the town the past few years… to the point where it almost feels watered down. Wouldn’t you agree? The movie ‘The Secret’ came out and everyone was running around saying that you can get anything you want if you just think about it.

That is true, but what happened was people would say they wanted something like a Million Dollars, wait a few days… and then when it didn’t show up they said ‘this stuff doesn’t work’. I laugh when I hear people say that. They only say that because they don’t understand it.

Does it really work?

It’s like saying ‘this electricity thing doesn’t work’ because I have no clue how the lights go on when I flip the switch… but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t work! Just because I don’t understand it doesn’t mean it’s going to stop electricity from working.

Law of Attraction does not stop working because one doesn’t understand it either. People, places, things, circumstances and events are showing up in your life, right? It might not be all of the stuff you really want, but it’s still working. You just need a better understanding of how to turn on the light switch to get the result you want.

Manifesting what you want comes down to thinking a thought about something and BELIEVING that it will show up. If I had to sum up the Law of Attraction in one word… it would be Expectation.

Here is where the challenge is…

People realize that the thing they want is missing or non existent from their life. So instead of expecting that it will show up, they are so focused on it not being there… and those thoughts are what hold their desire from showing up in their experience.

Following me on this? It’s something that we’ve been doing for so long so it’s hard to wrap your thoughts around it. So what you need to do is coax those resistant thoughts about what you want into a better feeling place… a place of more expectation, or believability (is that a word??:)

I’ve come across a nifty process that will help you do this. DO NOT disregard this process because of it’s simplicity. The process is called ‘The Focus Wheel’. It was designed by Jerry & Ester Hicks in the book Ask and It Is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires.

So what did you think? Do you see how this process can help ease the resistant around those negative thoughts. It’s only the resistance that is holding what you desire out of your experience. If it wasn’t for those resistant thoughts… you’d be manifesting what you want right now!
