One thing that I’m becoming more and more conscious of is the way that I talk to myself. The more aware of this you can be, the easier it is to get to where you want to go.
The mind is a slippery little sucker. It will say all sorts of things to STOP you from getting what you want. Most people get frustrated over this, but the mind is only doing what it is designed to do. It’s job is to protect you…
So the mind looks at it this way…
If you don’t grow, you’re safe. Meaning, if you stand still and don’t move anywhere, you are less likely to get hurt. So it’s job is to stop you from growing!
So if your mind is doing that, then be happy! Now why would I say such a thing… because it means that your mind is working correctly… no need to go see a doctor
Now there are 3 words that the mind says OVER AND OVER that gets most people every single time… and it stops them dead in their tracks! When you discover this and pay attention to when your mind says this to you, you will know the exact things that you need to do to grow.
Listen in on the video I created sharing the 3 Most Dangerous Words…
So do you hear your mind saying these 3 words to you often? Leave a comment below and share with the community how these 3 words have stopped you in the past. I always LOVE to hear your feedback and read your comments.
Also, share this post with all of your Facebook and Twitter peeps. Their mind is saying the same 3 words to them:)
I appreciate you for taking the time to read and share today… thank you!

right on the spot Eric. “I know that” a blog will bring me an audience, success and money and haven’t done it yet
Hey Loic… thanks for poppin’ in buddy!
GREAT ENLIGHTENING post Eric!
THANK YOU man!
When I saw this post, I was saying “I already know this…”
But then I thought “Only good things are coming to me, so surely this is a good opportunity to listen”. So i clicked on the post. And now…It’s time to go to my visualization! When you hear someone saying to you…Oh, did u know that visualizing is the key to achieve everything that u want? Well, this is the right time to focus on your breathing and come back to your visualization! Everything that we receive is NEW.
Thank you for sharing, my friend.

Hey Francesco,
Visualization is such a great exercise. Most
people take it lightly and dismiss the POWER
in it.
Visualize the life of your dreams… and then
you will live the life of your dreams
I’m picturing an AMAZING life Eric!!!
For myself and for everyone!!!!!
Thank you for being such a powerful BOOSTER!
ROCK on!

Visualization is powerful:)
hey Eric!
I love to make sure that when I visualize I not only picture the image in my mind but I do my very best to FEEL what it is like to experience my vision. As you’ve mentioned time and again, it is our feelings that are the most attractive force in the Universe
As always fantastic post
Thanks for sharing my friend
Colette
Hey Colette,
The ‘feeling’ is the creative power, you’re
spot on! It’s in that feeling/emotion that
starts the attraction process.
Thanks for a great share!
Hey Eric, once again you are spot on. It is so easy to notice when other people dismiss what they are being told with “I know that”, but much harder and more valuable to recognise when we are doing it ourselves. As for what ‘I know” that I’m not doing, the list is way to long to fit here, but you’ve given me extra insight to start dealing with it. Thank you.
Hey Rowena,
I catch my slippery little brain saying
it a lot… and I know it’s just trying to
stop me from growing.
When those 3 words are said… it’s a
must that we do what the mind was
trying to stop us from doing.
Thanks for sharing:)
I work in the spiritual teaching & self development field and these are three words i hear sooooo often, what they are really saying is ‘i’m not listening or i’m not bothering with that bit’ It can be frustrating but so often it comes from students who have been studying the same stuff over and over with a variety of never ending teachers and there’s always something wrong with the teachers methods but they just are not progressing – why ? because they think “they know that” .. Thanks for the video, will be a good teaching tool.
Right on… most people keep dismissing
what they say they ‘already know’. It’s just
the mind stopping you from doing it, so you
don’t grow.
So the mind is doing exactly what it’s suppose
to do… then it’s our work to do what the mind
is attempting to stop us from doing.
Thanks!
Dude, I already knew that! jk
Great video. You’re totally right. Once we tell ourselves that we know something we tend to feel that it doesn’t deserve any further consideration so “I know that” becomes a phrase of dismissal. I think our ego stops us from considering the outside source because it would infer that we were wrong in not applying the information in the first place. Selfish ego!
Stefan,
Great insight buddy… it’s all
about dismissing what will help
us to grow.
Slippery little EGO:)
Thanks for the great video Eric. I know that I should pay more attention to what my mind is saying. I typically say that when I come across personal growth information, and you are exactly right. I’ll say “I know that” and then go right back to doing what I was doing. Thanks for pointing that out.
Wayne Woodworth´s last blog ..Build a Relationship on Trust
Hey Wayne,
When you hear your mind say ‘I know
that’… it just means that it’s something
that will help you to grow, and the mind/ego
doesn’t want you to.
So tell it… ‘thank you for sharing’… and
take action on that very thing
Eric,
Great stuff. I’ve been doing that but have not noticed until now. Thanks

Hi Eric,
Thanks for an enlightening post and video. Those three words definitely can hinder your own growth. Knowing and actually doing something about it are two different things. I just wrote something on my own blog pretty much along the same lines.
Aloha to you!

all grow.
You make a difference!
Eric, great point, I didnt know what the three words were – but you have definitely got something going. I know that exercise is good for me but I dont do it consistently and persistently. I also know that some people get my knickers in a knot when they are talking in what I think is an at me mad tone and that I have to let it wash over me, cos its not about me, its about them. I know it. and I am going to stop standing still.

Great to hear… just keep doing
what feels good. When the mind
tells us ‘i know that’, you can feel
it on an emotional level that it doesn’t
feel good to dismiss it.
Your emotions will always guide you:)
You rock Eric. . .and I think it’s ok for you to ‘know that’. Great post, really hit home. Tnx for yet another tool for flexing the muscle of mindfullness.
My pleasure Alison… and thank you!
It’s great to KNOW something, but we
only ‘know it’ when we are doing it… when
we are living it.
Thanks for the share… flex those muscles!
Eric,
Ah, you have a very good point with these three words! It does stop you from growing and learning something new. Hmmm, I’ll be listening to myself more from now on.

Oh, Eric, you really nailed it! This so resonates with me — cause I do it, like, all the time! There are a bunch of things in my life where I’ve let “I know that” blow me right on past whatever I could have learned in that moment (and your example about meditation really hit home–I do the same thing: tell coaching & training clients how valuable it is, then neglect to practice it regularly in my own life!). Some are related to things I “know” would help me in my business; I say “I know that” and then go right on to other things *without* doing the things I just noted I “know” would help. Now I’ll be more conscious when my brain tells me “I know that”, thanks to you!
Hey Beth,
Just keep your ears open for those
words… because they won’t go away.
And the idea is not to make them go
away, just to know… hey, this is something
I must do/live being the mind is trying to
stop me from it… it means growth.
To your growth Beth!
This is so right Eric thanks for sharing – its in the knowing but more important – APPLICATION! My partner does this to me to and I might be saying something and he will say I know that- he may as well have just stuck up a wall to talk to!
Will push past the \"I Know that\" and listen and start doing.
Thank you
Eric,
Great perspective on these three words. I will be more attentive now to the internal dialogue I have with myself to catch these 3 words and stop them in their tracks. By the way, the meditation thing…right on point. I am seeing GREAT results since I started meditating on a daily basis. I’m about to increase my meditation time to twice a day. Love the way it prepares me and brings focus for the tasks at hand. Let’s chat soon!

I know, I know, I know. Quit saying it and Just get up and DO IT.

Hi Eric,
Great post – I was at a couple of T Harv Eker events here in London last year (wow wow wow!), and this was stressed again and again : KEEP YOUR MIND OPEN!! We may THINK we “know that” … but do we really? What we think we know is just our perception of our world, and if we keep an open mind and realise that there are other perspectives, we can only grow, and take others with us on that journey
Thanks for your insight! Have tweeted/FB’ed & Stumbled this

Hi Eric,
Like Tristram mentioned above, i was trying to work out the words, but i was going on the assumption it was 3 separate words, i didn’t even consider it being a phrase!
I’m seriously guilty of ‘knowing’ things that i have yet to actually implement and get results from… the last few days I have been trying to reverse this trend and do more.
This post puts it into a nice perspective for me, awesome insight.
Thanks

Man Eric you hit it right on the head.
I work with youth and a lot of times I hear them say “I know that.” and my response is “If you knew that, then why didn’t you…”.
I think when people use those words it’s hard to grow because you don’t open yourself up to something new. By saying “I know that” you’re telling your brain that this is information that I already have and I don’t need it.

Hey Rodney,
This is a great lesson to teach
people when they are young…
You are so right… we shut down
to the info when we say ‘i know that’.
It’s like the waiter/waitress coming
over and asking you if you want dessert,
and you saying ‘nah, i’m full… i’ll have no
more room for anything else’.
It’s those desserts that give us the JOY
that we are seeking as human beings…
Thanks for your share buddy!
Hey Eric,
When I saw the title of your post I was thinking “I bet I know what three words they are….” I was surprised when you shared them. What a great insight to how our own mind can hold us in a prison from achieving our greatest dreams.
After you shared your story about meditating I could identify too many examples in my own life that I do the same thing. Awareness will set you free! Thank you so much for sharing these three deadly words!

“I Know That”
LOL.
Very relevant. Just back from yoga. Handstand… “I know I can keep my arms straight, my arms are straight right, Hmmm why are my wrists hurting, are my arms straight, of course they are.
{Teacher} “Emma straighten your arms, squeeze”, yikes my arms were not straight. Yikes this is hard, hang on my wrists do not hurt. Wow this is hard.
This is just an example. Yoga is a great reminder that we are not implementing what we need to do to become healthy, in both mind and body.
